Crossroads, an interracial band that happened quite by chance…
Marco Ortman (GER) - drums Quang Yo (TWN) - bass guitar Ben Noun Dror (ISR) - guitar Barry Smit (HOL) - lead vocals Ryan Anthony (SIN) - Keyboards Ray Anthony (SIN) - lead guitar/vocals. Ray Anthony, self taught Lead Guitarist, has done his fair share of performing with various bands in countries like England, Thailand, Malaysia, Germany, Holland, Taiwan, and of course his home town Singapore. Ray has picked his guitar at many a live Rock Concert in Singapore in the early 70's with his then bands 'Fried Ice and 'Heritage'. In 1991 Ray and his Singapore band 'Legend' were the opening act for the 'Deep Purple' concert in Singapore. Playing a right handed guitar left handed and also being able to produce the same tones and sounds had earned him the title 'Jimi Hendrix of Singapore'. Barry Smit, the Lead Vocalist hails from a musical family. His Grandfather a lyricist/composer, his father played and toured in an accordion trio, and his Mother a singer who cut records in the early 60's. In the last grade of high school, he teamed up with some classmates to form a Rock Band. Four years and two bands later he decided to say goodbye to band life, but continued to do recording with a friend. Twenty years later, he finds himself singing again, with Crossroads. His onstage antics reminds one of Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones. Guitarist Ben Noun, drummer Marco Ortman and bass player Quang Yo have had their experiences performing in their own countries with various bands. Crossroads plays music reminiscent of 60's and 70's Rock and Rock ‘n Roll, covering artistes such as the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Van Morrison, Paul Simon, REM, Elvis Costello, CSN&Y to name a few. |
